Mobile Phones in India to Display Radiation Levels Tag

New Delhi, 2 February 2011: The government of India has directed the mobile handset makers to display the radiation emission levels on the various mobile phone models they manufacture from September 1, 2012 onwards.

The new radiation emission norms include the specific absorption rate (SAR) levels below 1.6 watt/kg over six minutes of talktime. SAR is the amount of radio waves absorbed by the body tissue while using a mobile phone.

India Today magazine has reported that the mobile phones will be available in the market with a tag informing the radiation level which it emits from this September. Currently the handset makers do not inform the radiation levels their phone emit in the packaging or brochures.

As per reports more than 600 mobile phone models sold in India emit radiation which is more than the accepted levels.

Sony Tablet S, Tablet P 3G + Wi-Fi launched in India

New Delhi 4 December 2011: Sony India has launched its first Android tablets Sony Tablet S & P.

The tablets are priced at Rs. 33,990 and Rs. 36,990 for the 3G + Wi-Fi version, Sony Tablet S & Tablet P and will be available across 500 stores in India starting Mid-January 2012.

The Sony Tablet S device is optimized for rich media entertainment on its 9.4-inch touchscreen display. With a powerful NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile processor, the Sony Tablet S device lets you enjoy the web as well as your favorite content and applications on its large, high-resolution screen. Weighing in at just about 1.33 lbs., its unique asymmetric design allows for hours of comfortable use and built-in Wi-Ficompatibility means Internet connectivity virtually anywhere there’s a hotspot.

The Sony Tablet P device is ideal for mobile communication and entertainment. With its innovative folding design, two 5.5-inch displays and weight at about 0.83 lbs., it can easily fit into a pocket, purse or backpack. It features the same NVIDIA Tegra™ 2 mobile processor and is both Wi-Fi compatible and 4G capable exclusively on AT&T’s mobile broadband network,1 offering users access to digital content including videos, games, and e-mail, while on the go, nearly anytime.

Both devices run on Android, Android 3.1 on Sony Tablet S devices2 and Sony Tablet P devices will be equipped with Android 3.2 by the time they ship. Both models feature front and rear facing cameras that allow for video recording and capturing still images. The devices also support micro USB interface and SD card. Mumbai, 14 December 2011: Nokia has announced the launch of Nokia Money, the financial service of the company in India.

Nokia Money is like a wallet on phone as it lets people transfer money through the mobile phone. Subscribers also can pay utility bills and top up SIM cards. There will also be the facility to pay for goods and services.

By using this facility a person living in one place can transfer the money to another person not having bank account and the latter can receive the money from Nokia dealer in his area.

To use Nokia Money, the customer has to visit the Nokia store, register and pay cash and load money to his mobile phone. He can then use this cash for any transaction through an sms.

Nokia Money is independent of mobile operators or bank. It can be used along any operator and works via sms, gprs, 3G or Wi-Fi.

The service was earlier launched with Loop Mobile and now it has been launched India wide.
