Corey Anderson of New Zealand scored the fastest One day International century in the match against West Indies on the New Year Day.
Anderson hit century in 36 balls surpassing the current record by Shahid Afridi of Pakistan in 37 balls during 1996. His fellow team mate Jesse Ryder also scored the sixth fastest ODI century in 46 balls which took the New Zealand to a score of 283 in 21 overs. However West Indies could only manage to score 124 for 5 in the rain washed game losing the match by 159 runs.
The 36 ball century became the fastest ever century in cricket equalling the first class record also. Anderson hit 14 sixes in the innings of 131 not out.
