Google has announced that it will shut down its Reader service from July 1, 2013

Google Reader application was launched in 2005 as a feed aggregrator which updates contents from website via RSS/Atom feeds. The share feature on Google Reader is considered as one of the first experiments in social networking.

As per the Google website, the reasons for the  withdrawal of the service is the lesser usage of Google reader and the companies strategy to concentrate on fewer successful products.

However developers interested in alternatives can export their data, including their subscriptions, with "Google Takeout" service over the course of the next four months.
