Actor Sanjay Dutt gets 5 years in jail in 1993 Mumbai blasts case

The Supreme Court of India has upheld the sentence of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt to five yeras in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blast case. The court has also confirmed the death sentence of Yakub Abdul Razak Memon and commuted the death sentence of 10 others.

 Actor Sanjay Dutt has already served 18 months in jail earlier will now have to complete the remaining term. He was sentenced to jain for a term of six years by TADA court for illegal possession of weapons from terrorists who were responsible for the Mumbai attack.


 The 1993 Bombay bombings were a series of 13 bomb explosions that took place in Bombay on Friday, 12 March 1993. The attacks were the most destructive bomb explosions in Indian history ever. The single-day attacks resulted in over 250 fatalities and 700 injuries.

 Sanjay Dutt is currently acting in Bollywood projects such as 'Peekay', 'Policegiri', 'Zanjeer' and 'Ungli'
