The Tourism Ministry of India has announced National Tourism Awards for the movie 'Life of Pi'. The award has been announced for promoting tourism in India especially Munnar and Puducherry.
The film’s director Ang Lee and Yann Martel, the author of the book on which the film is based, would receive the awards, Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi said on Saturday.
The awards has been given in the category of 'Film Tourism' which is a niche tourism which could promote India as a tourism destination through Hollywood, Bollywood and regional language films.
Life of Pi directed by Ang Lee tells the story of an Indian boy from Puducherry who survives a shipwreck and remains stranded for 227 days on a boar in the Pacific Ocean with a Bengal tiger.
