New Delhi, 25 September 2012: The recently released Hindi movie 'Barfi' which says the story of love between a deaf and mute boy with a girl affected by autism has been selected as India's official entry to the Best foreign language film in the Oscars.
The movie was selected by Film Federation of India (FFI) from 17 other Indian movies from various languages.
The list of films shortlisted for Indian entry were as follows

10 ) Arjun – The Warrior Prince (Hindi)
11) Gattu (Hindi)
12) Jalpari (Hindi)
13) The Dirty Picture (Hindi)
14) Ferrari Ki Sawari (Hindi)
15) Deool (Marathi)
16) Veer Hamirji – Somnath Ni Sakhate (Gujarati)
17) Anhey Ghore Da Daan (Punjabi)
Since 1957, India has sent around 45 films to Academy awards, of which three - Mother India, Salaam Bombay and Lagaan were nominated in Oscar and reached the final round. None of the Indian movies has won as the Best foreign language films.
