ISRO to launch Space Mission to Mars in 2013

Indian Space Research Organization has announced a mission to mars in 2014 and awaits the nod from the government.

The Mars mission will be handled by an orbiter spacecraft of 1350 kg mass which will be launched by a PSLV XL vehicle from Satish Dhawan Space Centre during October - November 2013, as per reports. The mission will have a 25 kg payload on the satellite that will orbit Mars to carry out experiments The project with an estimated cost of Rs. 450 crores will involve a team of 185 scientists, engineers and technicians.

With this India will become the sixth nation to undertake a mission to Mars.
