New Delhi, 31 July 2012: Three power grids connecting 22 states in India collapsed resulting in power loss which had affected 60 crore people. This is the second time in two days the failure of the electricity grid has affected the life of the major part of the country. The northern grid failed for the second consecutive day whereas the eastern and north eastern grid collapsed today noon.
The blackout is regarded as the world's biggest ever power crisis. Trains of Indian Railways, Delhi Metro, etc failed to run which resulted in massive traffic problems in the road as people turned to public transport.
