'King of Ghazal' Ustad Mehdi Hassan passes away

New Delhi, 13 June 2012: India-born Pakistani ghazal singer Ustad Mehdi Hassan passed away at a local hospital in Karachi today. Hassan aged 84, was under treatment for lung and chest infection for the past ten years.

Ustad Mehndi Hassan, popularly known as 'King of Ghazal'  was one of the legendary figures in Pakistan music Industry. His Ghazals ad Albums attracted several fans from all over the world. He has won many honours such as  Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Pride of Performance and Hilal-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan, Gorkha Dakshina Bahu by the Government of Nepal etc.
