Internet shutdown on July 9, 2012

Google has warned that the Internet will slow down in the month of July due to a computer virus known as 'flame'. In a release issued to internet users, Google said that Internet connection is expected to stop working on July 9, 2012 due to the attack of the virus.

The attack has been planned by a group of international hackers who ran an online advertising scam to take control of infected computers around the world. The computers of the virus prone users will stop functioning from July 9 onwards and could not be able to connect to the internet.

Google is planning to run an awareness campaign using its search pages about the issue.

As per reports infected computers will see a notification such as “Your computer appears to be infected” while browsing the Google search pages and a small description about systems not being able to connect to the Internet.
