100 Richest Sports Persons in the World; MS Dhoni, Sachin in the list

Hyderabad, 19 June 2012: Indian cricket team captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar have been named in the list of 100 highest paid sports persons in the world by the Forbes Magazine.

Dhoni ranks 31st and Sachin is placed 78th in the list of 100 athletes on the basis of earnings for the past twelve months. Mahendra Singh Dhoni earned $26.5 million, and 23 million was from his brand endorsements. Sachin's earnings amount to $18.6 million. No other Indian players has been listed in the list of 100.

Boxer Floyd Mayweather is the richest sports person in the world with a revenue of $85 million. He is followed by fellow boxer Manny Pacquiao with $62 million. Golfer Tiger Woods is ranked third with an earnings of  $59.4 million.

Dhoni surpassed sprinter Usain Bolt, tennis player Novak Djokovic, footballers Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres. The Indian captain’s earnings through endorsements are more than the world’s most popular footballer Lionel Messi.
