Mumbai, Delhi world's least expensive cities


New Delhi, 16 February 2012: Mumbai has been rated as the world's second least expensive city to live in, by a global survey conducted by Economist Intelligence Unit (www.eiu.com). Mumbai is followed by National capital New Delhi which is ranked fourth least expensive.

Karachi in Pakistan has been named as the cheapest destination globally, while Zurich in Switzerland is the most expensive place across the world, says the survey. Japanese city Tokyo is rated as the second most expensive city in the world followed by Osaka and Geneva jointly placed in the third spot.

The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Worldwide Cost of Living survey is a full service that enables human resources line managers and expatriate executives to compare the cost of living in 140 cities in 93 countries and calculate fair compensation policies for relocating employees.
