Trivandrum, 7 January 2012: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has announced several new regulations for the safeguard of the mobile network using consumers in India.
TRAI has directed that the mobile companies to setup a 'complaint centre' with a toll free 'consumer care number' which can be accessed from any service provider's network. Operators have been asked to set up a webbased complaint monitoring system through which consumers can track their complaints. Also the calls to these customer care numbers should be made free.

The authority has also said that mobile phone operators can provide an itemised bill from service providers on request at a cost below Rs. 50 for pre-paid customers too.
