Mahindra HyAlfa, World's first Hydrogen powered Three-wheeler

New Delhi, 10 January 2012: Indian automobile maker Mahindra and Mahindra has launched the world's first hydrogen powered three wheeler in the Auto Expo 2012 here. The hydrogen fuelled three wheelers are called HyAlfa and is a zero emission vehicle  and offers 80 kms mileage.

The vehicle have been developed under a project named DelHy 3W, by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)'s International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies (UNIDO-ICHET) in association with Mahindra & Mahindra and IIT-Delhi, besides being supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

The India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), which organises trade fairs at Pragati Maidan, will use the vehicles on an experimental basis.
