IRCTC launches mobile website at irctc.co.in/mobile

New Delhi, 3 January 2012: Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the one-stop source for booking railway tickets in India has launched the mobile version of its website. The mobile website (beta) is available at www.irctc.co.in/mobile

The mobile website will offer services like ticket booking, cancellation, checking history, online payment etc. The existing IRCTC account can be used to access the site.  After booking, the passenger will receive a reservation message with full details of the ticket including PNR, train no, date of journey and class. Passengers can use this message received on the mobile phone as a virtual ticket. No need of taking  the printout of the ticket as usual. The service charges are similar to the online one with Rs 10 for Sleeper class and Rs 20 for other higher class.

Currently there are thirdparty applications like ngpay, paymate etc for booking the tickets, but this one is the first official mobile phone service from Indian railways.
