Dhaka, 19 January 2012: Shahid Afridi of Pakistan became the most valuable Twenty20 player in the first Bangladesh Premier League auction held today. Afridi was roped in by Dhaka Gladiators team for US $ 700,000 followed by Chris Gayle who secured $551,000 to play for Barisal Burners.

Dwayne Bravo - Chittagong $150,000

Muttiah Muralitharan - Chittagong $100,000
Kamran Akmal - Sylhet $100,000
Rana Naved-ul Hasan - Dhaka $100,000
Sohail Tanvir - Sylhet $100,000
Saeed Ajmal - Dhaka $100,000

Bangladesh players Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Ashraful, Shahriar Nafees and Alok Kapali had been selected as icon players for the six franchises.
Around 200 cricketers were auctioned for the tournament in which each team could spend a maximum of Rs. $2 million and eight overseas players.
