Infosys becomes the most influential stock in Sensex, Nifty


Mumbai, 14 December 2011: Infosys has become the most influential stock in the Mumbai stock market index 'Sensex'. Infosys replaced Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries to the second place due to the bad performance of the latter in the last one year.

Infosys has 10.25% weightage in Sensex, whereas Reliance Industries has  only 10.08% weightage. In Nifty also Infosys remains the most influential stock followed by Reliance. Reliance has been leading the Sensex and Nifty for a long time, however the weightage can change since it is calculated on a daily basis.



Other companies who influence the stock indicies in India include HDFC (HDFC Bank, HDFC) and Tata group (TCS, Tata Motors, Tata Steel) of companies.

Based on overall market Reliance Industries is the country's most valued firm, followed by TCS, ONGC, Coal India and Infosys.
