PSLV-C18 launched with Megha-Tropiques and 3 other satellites

New Delhi, 12 October 2011: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has succesfully launched the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C18).

The PSLV-C18 placed four satellites in orbit which includes Megha-Tropiques,an Indo-French satellite, VesselSat — 1 from Luxembourg, SRMSat from SRM University, Chennai, and Jugnu from IIT, Kanpur.

Megha-Tropiques (Megha meaning cloud in Sanskrit and Tropiques denoting tropics in French) will investigate the contribution of water cycle in the tropical atmosphere to climate dynamics.
