Namma Metro: Bangalore Metro Rail inaugurated


New Delhi, 20 October 2011: Namma Metro, the metro rail system for Bangalore has been inaugurated today. The Bangalore metro implemented by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) offers top technology on board including a fully enabled Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Metro will have service from 6 am to 10 pm and aims to carry 30,000 passengers a day. The current lane is from MG road to Baiyappanahalli.

The fare of the metro starts from Rs. 10 and has a maximum fare of Rs. 15. Travellers can purchase smart cards by the name Varshik, Sanchar, Saral and Saraag of various denominations too. The maximum speed of the trains will be 67.5 kms/hr and there will be trains every 15 minutes. Each Metro train will contain three coaches and can contain one thousand passengers.
