Android 4.0, Samsung Galaxy Nexus Unveiled

Bangalore, 19 October 2011: Google has launched the latest version of its mobile operating system, the  Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.

The new Adroid 4.0 OS has been launched along with Samsung  Galaxy Nexus, the first smartphone to run using the new OS.

The Android 4.0 is a common user interface for both tablets and smart phones which offers innovative features such as easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, resizable widgets etc.

It offers new home screen folders, favourites tray, lock screen actions, quick responses for incoming calls, Swipe action to dismiss notifications, tasks and browser tabs, improved text input and spell-check, powerful voice input engine, control for managing network data usage, explore by touch mode, unified calendar, visual voice mail, etc

The camera actions holds continuous focus, zero shutter lag exposure, stabilized image zoom, snapshots at full video resolution, face detection, single motion panorama etc. The images can be viewed using a picture gallery widget, and live effects for video is also available.

The Android 4.0 offers a powerful web browsing experience with Chrome bookmarks, full desktop versions of websites, offline reading etc.


The Samsung Galaxy Nexus which is the first smartphone based on Android 4.0 has also been launched. The phone will be available globally during the month of November 2011.

The Galaxy Nexus features Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, Face unlock,  Voice typing, Android beam, Google +, Single motion panoramic camera, high definition display, 4G (LTE or HSPA+)  1.2 GHZ dual core processor.
