New Telecom Policy of India 2011 may abolish Roaming Charges


Hyderabad, 15 September 2011: The draft telecom policy 2011 India which is proposed to replace the current telecom rules is expected to bring drastic changes in the telecom sector.

According to reports the new policy will expand mobile number portability MNP and allow consumers to retain their numbers when they move to a new city or any location in the country without having to pay roaming charges.

Currently MNP allows customers to retain their mobile number while switching operators in a particular telecom circle only.

The new Telecom Policy of India 2011 is expected to introduce a 'one nation-one licence' scheme and abolishing Roaming charges.
