Arakkonam-Katpadi & Chennai -Vellore EMU passenger trains collides


Chennai, 13 September 2011: A passenger train from Chennai collided with another train at Sitheri railway station, Arakkonam causing a death of more than 10 people and injuring several others.

According to reports the collided trains are Chennai Beach-Vellore Cantonment Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit (MEMU) train to Vellore and the stationary Arakkonam-Katpadi Electrical Multiple Unit (EMU) passenger train. The accident occurred at 9:40 pm today.
