Google acquires Motorola


Internet giant Google has acquired mobile phone maker Motorola for $12.5 billion. This will make Google an official vendor of smart phones. Google's free software Android is the trendsetter of technosphere where 150 million Android based smartphones are already activated.

Google CEO Larry Page said that the deal wouldnt add any control on Android software. Motorola will be a licensee and Android will remain open for everyone. He also said that Google will handle the Motorola business separately.
