NASA discovers 2010 TK7 Trojan asteroid in earth's orbit

New Delhi, 29 June 2011: Scientists have discovered an asteroid sharing the earth's orbit around the sun.

NASA's WISE Mission (Wide—field Infrared Survey Explorer) has identified a trojan asteroid which has been called as ‘2010 TK7' reports AFP.

2010 TK7 is the first identified trojan asteroid of earth. Other planets such as Jupiter, Mars and Neptune have trojans orbitting in their respective paths.



Trojan asteroids are those tiny spacial objects which is lovated in a particular stable position in front or behind a planet. The current Earth Trojan lies 80 million kilometres from earth, and dont start to worry, it will never collide with earth as scientist assure that its path is "stable for at least 1,000 years".
