Facebook to launch Video Chat powered by Skype

Bangalore, 2 July 2011: Facebook, the largest social network will unveil an 'awesome' feature next week. This feature which was announced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg and was kept under cover is now leaked online. The new feature is none other than Video Chat via Facebook homepage, reports Techcrunch.

The video chat comes to Facebook powered by Skype. Currently Facebook allows only chat via text and group chat among people in a community. The Video Chat is expected to allow one-to-one and one-to-many and many-to-many options. Skype which is owned by Microsoft is the popular peer-to-peer Internet telephony service.

Earlier this week Google in its newly launched social platform Google+ has included a video chat feature named Google+ Hangout which is capable of a group video chat upto 10 persons.

The new feature is expected to be available to all Facebook users from July 6, 2011 onwards.
