Sukhsohit Singh, suffering from Thalassemia denied Civil Services

New Delhi, 16 June 2011: Sukhsohit Singh wo became the first person with a genetic disorder to become eligible for civil services has been denied job by the medical board.

Sukhsohit Singh aged 25 from Panchkula suffers from Thalassemia Major, a rare genetic disorder. He was qualified in the civil services examinations in 2008 with a rank of 833 in general category and opted for Defence or Railway services.

However has been denied the civil service since he was found to be medically unfit by the medical board due to his genetic disorder.

The candidate is now knocking the doors of relevant authorities to grant him no-objection certificate.
