Sukanya Roy wins Scripps National Spelling Bee 2011

Sukanya Roy, an Indo-American girl has won the 84th Scripps National Spelling Bee Championship in the United States. She is the ninth participant and also the fourth consecutive with Indian origin within the last 12 years to win the championship.

Sukanya Roy aged 14 is from South Abington. She wins $40,000.

The winning word which she correctly spelled was “cymotrichous”.
