Piaggion NT3: Piaggio Vespa to launch 3 seater small car to take on Tata Nano

Italy's Piaggio which is famous for its Vespa brand of scooters in India has announced the launch of an ultra-low cost car for the emerging markets.

The small car which will be priced below the Tata Nano will be a small city three-person, four-wheel car.

The car code named NT3, will be a low-consumption, environment friendly vehicle and yet to be named.

The car's design is unique in which a driver seat will be in front followed by two passenger seats in the back, yes just like the autorickshaws in the Indian market.

According to reports the new small car could be launched first in India or Vietnam. More details are awaited.

Piaggio based in Pontedera, Italy is the fourth largest producer of scooters and motorcycles in the world. The company had earlier manufactured a small car in the name Vespa 400 during the 1950s. It sells the mini-truck under the brand name APE in India.
