Owls in India faces threat due to Harry Potter: Minister


Owl's in India has been facing threat from humans due to the Harry Potter movie, says the Minister for Environment in India, Jairam Ramesh.

According to the minister, a research conductecd by the firm Traffic, urban middle class parents are gifting their kids with the real owls which is affecting the bird's population in India.

The Hedwig Owl is noted as the pet animal of Harry Potter and seen in the novels and the movie.

Owls in India is an endangered species and their hunting and trade in all Indian owl species is banned under the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972 of India.
