Commonwealth Games CWG Opening Ceremony 2010 Live telecast on Doordarshan / DD Sports

The much awaited Commonwealth Games will be inaugurated today at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Delhi today.

The opening ceremony will start from 7 pm and will be of 2 hour duration. The President of India Smt. Pratibha Patil and Britain's Prince Charles will declare the Games open.

This will be followed by the grand march past of participating countries. Indian team will be lead by Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra who will carry the Indian flag during the ceremony.

The baton for the games will be carried by Indian sports persons like Saina Nehwal, Vijender Kumar, Sushil Kumar etc to the stadium.

The opening ceremony will feature the following events.

Rhythm of India, Swagatam, Tree of Knowledge, Yoga, Great Indian Journey and the CWG anthem 'Jiyo Utho Badho Jeeto'.

International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge, Commonwealth Games Federation chief Mike Fennel, New Zealand Governor General Sir Anand Satyanand, Monaco's Prince Albert II and Presidents Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives etc is expected to be the foreign dignitaries.

The event will be live telecast on Doordarshan and DD Sports.
