Ashish Kumar wins India's first medal for gymnastics in commonwealth games history

Ashish Kumar of India became the first sports person to win a medal in the Gymnastics event in the Commonwealth Games for India.

Ashish Kumar aged 19 won bronze medal in the floor exercise event held at Indira Gandhi sports complex in CWG gymnastics.

He scored 14.475 in the floor exercise finals to secure the third spot after Thomas Pichler (AUS) and Reiss Beckford (ENG) .

Ashish who hails from Allahabad is also the first Indian to win a medal at the Asian gymastics Championships in 2006, at the age of 16.
