Sachin Tendulkar becomes Group captain of Indian Air Force

Sachin Tendulkar, the greatest cricketer India has ever produced, has been conferred with the honorary rank of group captain by the Indian Air Force (IAF). Sachin achieved this honour in return to the services he has rendered to the country through his game.

Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik presented the honorary Rank to Sachin.

Sachin became the first sportsperson to be conferred a rank by the IAF, and the first personality with no aviation background to receive the honour.

Earlier cricketer Kapil Dev and actor Mohanlal has received similar honorary ranks, but in branches other than Airforce.
