FIFA Golden Ball 2010 Award to Diego Forlan

Diego Forlan has been named as the Best Player at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Forlan wins the adidas Golden Ball for the “Best Player of the Tournament”.

Forlan, the Uruguay striker overtook Netherlands’ Wesley Sneijder and Spain's David Villa. Sneijder won the silver ball and Villa the bronze ball awards.

The ten nominated players were selected by the FIFA Technical Study Group were Diego Forlan (URU, #10), Asamoah Gyan (GHA, #3), Andres Iniesta (ESP, #6), Lionel Messi (ARG, #10), Mesut Oezil (GER, #8), Arjen Robben (NED, #11), Bastian Schweinsteiger (GER, #7), Wesley Sneijder (NED, #10), David Villa (ESP, #7), Xavi (ESP, #8)

The perfomance of Diego Forlan has helped Uruguay to reach the semi finals after 75 years.

The award was decided by conducting a poll from FIFA accredited media representatives who participated the world cup.

The first three rankings is as follows
Minutes Played, Total passes, Goals scored, Shots, Shots on goal, Yellow card,
Red card, 2nd Yellowcard, Fouls committed, Fouls suffered.
