South African cricket umpire Rudi Koertzen became the first umpire to stand in 100 tests matches and 200 One day internationals.

On 11th July 2009, Rudi Koertzen became the first person in the history of the game to umpire 200 One-day internationals. He is the second umpire after Steve Bucknor to officiate in 100 Tests when he stood in the second Ashes Test at Lord’s.

Koertzen, was born on 26 March 1949 in Knysna, Cape Province, South Africa. He made his international debut in the match between India and South Aftica in Port Elizabeth on December 9, 1992

His personal favourite batsmen are Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar and bowlers include Shane Warne, Glen Mcgrath and Allan Donald. His favourite cricket innings is of Adam Gilchrist scoring 204 (19x4, 8x6) in a test against South Africa at the Wanderers in February 2002.

Tata Motors had announced the selection list of the first 100,000 owners of the Tata Nano from among the 2,06,703 final list of applicants who had booked the car last month.The first 100,000 owners were selected through a computerised random selection process.

India's first moon mission Chandrayaan-I, will come to an early end because of a technical error, ISRO authorities has confirmed.

The Chandrayaan has lost one of the 'star sensors' which helps it to remain in the orbit of moon. The 'star sensor' an important device in the spacecraft which senses the position of the stars and keeps the spacecraft in correct location. According to ISRO this device has become non-functional for the past one month. ISRO has trying to keep Chandraayan in the orbit using other innovative means, reports India today.

However Chandrayaan has collected all the vital informations about the moon according to the mission.

Chandrayaan I was launched in 22nd October 2008 with a two-year life span.

Caspian Airlines Flight 7908 along with 153 passengers and 15 crew members has crashed into a farmland in Iran.

The plane was travelling from Tehran Imam Khomeini, Iran to Yerevan, Armenia and the crash occured at 11:30 am morning at Jannatabad near Qazvin, NYTimes reports.

All passengers are believed to be dead resulting in the crash. The aircraft was a Russian made Tupolev TU-154M as per reports.

STAR Plus, will launch its newest reality show Sach ka Saamna, the Indian version of the popular international show 'Moment of Truth' of Fox Television. The show will be hosted by actor Rajeev Khandelwal.



Sach Ka Saamna with the tagline Sachchai ki Agnipariksha is a psychological game that tests the nerve and integrity of a contestant. This show will have the contestants reveal uncomfortable truths of their life which they will have to answer in front of their loved ones.

The contestants will face 21 questions about their own life and the answer to each question will have to be either a 'Yes' or a 'No'. The authenticity of the answers is determined by a polygraph test based 50 questions answered by the contestant earlier. Out of this stack, 21 questions are picked out to be asked on the show and the answers for the same are known to no one else but the contestant himself. Questions are based on their relationships, views, sex etc. As a part of the show, the contestants' families and friends are seated right in front of them, in the studio.



With each truth, the contestant rises up money tree, where the questions start getting more personal and edgier by the level; getting them closer to Rs. 1 Crore, which is the top prize.

Sach ka Saamna attempts to bring about a positive change by helping the contestants resolve issues of their past and to lead a better life. The first episode of the show will be telecasted on July 15th at 10:30 pm. Smita Matai, a research associate, will be the first contestant in the show.
