Official announcement has come that Home minister P Chidambaram won the Sivaganga Lok Sabha seat in Tamil Nadu on Saturday after two recounts.
Chidambaram was earlier declared lost to Raja Kannappan of the AIADMK earlier in the day. However Chidambaram insisted on recounting in which he won, which was again recounted when the opposition candidate challenged and finally declared winner by about 3,500 votes in the third recount.

Samsung India has launched a new range of notebooks in India. Four mini-laptop/netbooks under the series N has been launched. The models include N110, NC20, N120 and N310 with 10 and 12 inch screens. The netbooks feature LED backlit displays for brighter pictures and lower power consumption and powered USB, spill-proof keyboard, SRS surround sound solutions etc.
The laptops are launched in three variants R522 (two versions) and R470. The R-series of notebooks are priced at Rs. 33,637 and the N series at Rs. 25,252 to Rs 30,089.

Kawasaki Japan is all set to launch its flagship model Kawasaki Ninja in India. Deccan 360, an express logistics venture of Air Deccan was launched at Delhi International Airport.
Deccan 360 will launch its service from starting May 18 in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hong Kong and Dubai sectors. Deccan Express Logistics, under the brand name “Deccan 360,” has been launched at an initial investment of Rs 1,000 crore.
Deccan 360 would be the first Indian company to build a hub-and-spoke model in the cargo industry and would ensure clock-work precision in operations. Deccan 360 would operate with three Airbus A310 freighters, with a carrying capacity of 35 tonnes, and six small feeder ATR 42 aircraft.

A new world record was created in Hyderabad when 160,000 people sang in chorus seven keerthanas of Telugu saint-poet Thallapaka Annamacharya yesterday evening.
The programme, ‘Laksha Gala Sankirthanarchana’, was organised jointly by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), the Andhra Pradesh state cultural council and Andhra Silicon. The event was organised to pay tribute to the poet Tallapaka Annamacharya on his 601st birth anniversary.
Laksha Gala Sankeertanarchana, broke the previous record of Poland where 60,000 people sang the national anthem together on August 2, 1937.
Renowned Carnatic musician M. Balamurali Krishna, singer Kavitha Krishnamurthy and her husband L. Subramanyam and Garimella Balakrishna Prasad led 160,000 singers, both professionals and amateurs. Telugu actor Nagarjuna, who acted in film “Annamayya”, was also present.
