The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched 10 Rupee coins. The bimetallic coins with nickel -bronze and ferrous steel has a weight of 8 grams and diameter of 28 mm. Designed by National Institute of Design, the new 10 Rupee coin has the lion capitol, year and denomination on one side and a symbol which portrays "Unity in Diversity" on the other side.The new coin, which is the largest common denomination available in the form of coins will be available to the public soon.

The Vishu Kani is an important observance of Vishu festival. The Vishu Kani Kanal is performed during the early morining on the Vishu day (April 14th) in which gold ornaments, fresh white cloth, a measure of rice or paddy, flowers of the Konna tree (Cussia fistula), halved jack fruits, oil lamps, halved coconuts, mirror, yellow cucumbe etc are placed along with Lord Krishna's idol.
