Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 tournament may be shifted to South Africa because of security issues, according to media reports.
The second edition of IPL is facing challenges inside India because of the security issues arising due to the overlapping of IPL and the general elections to the parliament.
Earlier South Africa was confirmed as the new host venue of the Champions Trophy. But Senior officials from India and South Africa have denied reports emerging on Friday that the IPL's second season will be relocated to South Africa. Lalit Modi, the IPL commissioner, also denied the story.

Noted Telugu Director Raj Aditya, of Ishtam and Pourudu fame passed away today (March 21) morning. He was seen hanging himself with a bed sheet tied to the ceiling fan in a room in Hotel Basera in Secunderabad today morning.
Raj whose real name is Rajakumaran Thambi is the son of noted Malayalam lyricist, director, producer and scenarist Sreekumaran Thambi.

Computer Giant Hewlett Packard (HP) has launched the first 'HP Software University' (HPSU in India. The University has been launched in partnership with Indian Institute of Hardware Technology (IIHT).

Young woman arrested in sensational murder case
Sanjana Muthanna, a former employee of a publishing house was arrested in connection with the murder of an event manager, Madhusoodan Aravindakshan in Indiranagar which occured in July 2007. The accused Sanjana Muthanna, was arrested from her hiding place in Gonikoppal in Kodagu District yesterday.
The sensational daylight murder occurred in the posh Indiranagar area when Madhusudhan Arvindakshan was shot dead in his office. Sanjana Muthanna and Madhusoodan were colleagues in a company. Sanjana was said to have had an extra-marital affair with Madhusoodan Aravindakshan. Issues in this relationship led to the murder. Times of India Bangalore reports.

World Sleep Day 2009 is being held on March 20, with a slogan ‘Drive alert, arrive safe’. This year’s theme is transportation, focussing on safety, travel and driving alertness.

Koftagiri is a form of Damascening, an ancient art wherein one metal is encrusted onto another either in the form of wires or small pieces.
Originally gold and silver were done on iron and steel defense items. Koftagiri, a technique where light-coloured metal is inlaid on a darker surface is found mainly in Jaipur, Ajmer, and Pushkar and is practised by very few artisans. It was used originally for weapons and arms. The metal surface gets a blue-black gloss after the application of a mixture of lime juice and sand mixture.

Originally gold and silver were done on iron and steel defense items. Koftagiri, a technique where light-coloured metal is inlaid on a darker surface is found mainly in Jaipur, Ajmer, and Pushkar and is practised by very few artisans. It was used originally for weapons and arms. The metal surface gets a blue-black gloss after the application of a mixture of lime juice and sand mixture.

Former UN under-secretary general Shashi Tharoor will contest to the Lok Sabha from the Thiruvanathapuram (Trivandrum) constituency, the capital of Kerala state.
The list of candidates for Congress was announced by KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala yesterday evening. Earlier Tharoor has expressed his “willingness to serve the country as a member of parliament” through the Congress Party, from his native state Kerala, probably through Trivandrum or Palakkad constituency.
Tharoor, who was India’s official candidate for the post of UN secretary-general after Kofi Annan in 2006.
The 14 writers from 12 countries have been short-listed for the Man Booker International Prize 2009. Mahasweta Devi and V S Naipaul from India are in the list.

A Jet Airways airhostess committed suicide by jumping from the 5th floor of a building following a heated argument with her pilot boyfriend in Mumbai today.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) claims to have found three unknown species of bacteria about 40 kilometres above the earth's surface.
All the three species of bacteria, are highly resistant to ultra-violet radiation, are not found in earth earlier which had led to the conclusin that these are from space.
The three bacteria are named Bacillus isronensis, Bacillus aryabhata and Janibacter hoylei.
The experiment was conducted using a 26.7 million cubic feet balloon carrying a 459 kg scientific payload soaked in 38 kg of liquid Neon, which was flown from the National Balloon Facility in Hyderabad, operated by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).This was the second such experiment conducted by ISRO, the first one being in 2001.
All the three species of bacteria, are highly resistant to ultra-violet radiation, are not found in earth earlier which had led to the conclusin that these are from space.

Kiran Pujari of Kharalwadi in Pimpri, who allegedly murdered Vidya Ghorpade (34) and her five-year-old son Om last Friday, has confessed his crime to the police, reports TOI.
Vidya Ghorpade (34), an executive working with Talawade-based Fujitsu Consultancy, and her five-year-old son Om were found killed with multiple stab wounds in their Empire Estate flat in Chinchwad, Pune on Friday.
The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh police arrested Kiran Pujari, a Pune resident, from Aliganj , Lucknow after two days.
Reports say that Pujari had illicit relationship with Vidya whose husband Deepak was working in Aurangabad. The murder occured as a result of a heated argument on some sms in the victims mobile phone.

The US government has offered green signal to Boeing Aircraft company for the supply of eight P-8i broad area, maritime airplanes to India, Reuters reports. The $2.1-billion contract to the Indian Ministry of Defense is considered to be the largest US arms deal to India.
Boeing India describes the P-8I as the long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft. Capable of broad-area, maritime, and littoral operations, the P-8I is expected to influence how the maritime patrols and reconnaissance forces train, operate, and deploy.
The first one of the P-8i will be delivered to India by early-2013, and the remaining aircrafts by 2015.

IBM India Research Laboratory has developed a new technology called Hyperspeech Transfer Protocol (HSTP)that will allow users to talk to the web and create voice sites using mobile phones, ET Reports.
Hyperspeech Transfer Protocol (HSTP) similar to the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is analogous to the internet. Through this protocol people can create voice websites using mobile phones.

Sharat Sabharwal has been appointed as New Delhi's envoy to Islamabad.
He is currently the special secretary in charge of administration, consular, passport and visa affairs in the external affairs ministry.
Sharat Sabharwal, a 1975 batch IFS officer, has earlier worked as the Ambassador to Uzbekistanhas and India's deputy representative to Geneva.
Sabharwal's appointment comes after the tenure of Satyabrata Pal ended in February 28, 2009.
