The competition a part of Maruti's National Road Safety Mission, which test the drivers knowledge of traffic rules, awareness of road safety along with their real-world driving skill. Zubin emerged winner from over 4,000 participants, in competitions held across 12 cities.

UB Group and Kingfisher Airlines chairman Mr Vijay Mallya has acquired the Mahatma Gandhi Memorabilia which was auctioned in the New York Antiquorum auction yesterday. The Statesman reports.
Despite the immense pressure on Mr. James Otis who had the collection of Gandhi's personal belongings to cancel the auction, the items went for an amount of $1.8 million (Rs 9.3 crore). The collection had a reserve price of between $20,000 and $30,000.
The personal items auctioned were Gandhi's metal-rimmed glasses, pocket watch, a pair of sandals and a plate and bowl.
Earlier James Otis, a California based antique collector who was the auctioner of Mahatma Gandhi's items said that he will hand over the items if the Indian government accepts his demands. The demands were
1. India should raise its budget allocation on the poor from 1 percent of its GDP to 5 percent.
2. India would promote events Gandhian ideologies in 78 countries.

Tamil Nadu School Education Department has launched its website www.pallikalvi.in.
The site will provide Results, Time table, Directory, Facts and Figures, School details etc which are useful to students, teachers and parents. . It would also contain details about the opening of new schools, recognition information and government orders from the department.
The education department plans to add various features to the website such as allotting a unique identity card to every student. The student's details will be updated by the school, including his list of achievments.
A Tamil version of the website is under construction.

Single Haj Application Forms for provisional registration for Haj - 1430 (H) – 2009, are available with all the State Haj Committees with effect from 5th March, 2009, the same may be collected from the State Haj Committees, free of cost.

Dr. Jancy James has been appointed as the first Vice Chancellor of the proposed Central University, Kasaragod. She has worked as the VC of Mahatma Gandhi University also.
Earlier Central Government had sanctioned new universities in Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
Kerala had proposed Kasargod as the location for the Central University sanctioned by the Union Government, considering the educational backwardness of the region.
The Central Universities Bill, 2008, was introduced in the Lok Sabha in December 2008 to ensure that there is a Central University in every State of the country.

Update: Sourabhee Debbarma became the first female winner in Indian Idol when she won the grand finale in the Indian Idol 4 yesterday.
Kapil Thapa, 25 from Dehradun, Sourabhee Debbarma, 23 from Agartala, and Torsha Sarkar, 21 from West Bengal will fight for the Indian Idol title season 4 in the grand finale to be telecasted on Sony Entertainment Television (Sony TV) on March 1, 2009.
The Indian Idol 4 th edition was started on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 9:00 pm. Indian Idol provides a platform for the young Indians who dare to dream, has the ability to chase them and bring them to life.
The Judges of the show are Music Director Annu Malek, Poet and lyricist Javed Akthar, Sufi Singer Kailash Kher, and actress Sonali Bendre.
