Kamal Hassan, has announced his new movie "Thalaivan Irukkindran" which is a remake of the critically acclaimed hindi movie A Wednesday directed by Neeraj Pandey.

The movie will also feature Malayalam superstar Mohan Lal along with Kamal hassan in an equally important role. The role was earlier offered to another Malayalam superstar Mammooty who rejected it.

A telugu version of the movie Thalaivan Irukindran is also planned with Nagarjuna doing the role of Mohanlal.

Indian scientists has created the world's first cloned buffalo calf and India's first cloned animal. The buffalo calf named Samrupa, was born in India on February 6, 2009. The calf developed using an indigeneous "hand-guided cloning technique", however could not survive for more than a week as it died of lung infection.

The cloning was done by scientists at the Animal Biotechnology Centre of the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal.

However NDRI scientists are on the research for creating a new buffalo calf soon and is expected to be succesful in the coming May.

NDTV reports that a Mangalore school girl, Ashwini (16) a Class IX student of Aikala High School in Kinnigoli, has committed suicide as a result of public humiliation by suspected Bajrang Dal activists for being seen with a Muslim man, Salim, the son of a bus owner.

Ashwini, hanged herself at her home in Mulky yesterday, after she wass harrased by the group.

PTI reports that a group of suspected Sangh parivar activists took Saleem, Ashwini and a friend who was with her to Maroor police station where her parente was summoned.

Mannath, the Shahrukh Khan's house in in Bandra, Mumbai was attacked today early morning at 4:30 am.

Reports indicate that a bottle containing inflammable substance was thrown at the house by people who came in a motorbike.

An mid air collision between two aircrafts was diverted by quick action of the pilots over Jorhat in Assam yesterday.

The Air India flight IC-206 with 49 people from Dibrugarh to Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon came very close (nearly 300 feet of minimum allowed 1000 feet ) with an IAF aircraft.

The pilot of IC-206 immediately dropped altitude thereby avoiding a deadly collision.

ATC officials and pilot are blaming each other in the incident.

Arulanantham Suresh Joachim, Canadian citizen of Sri lankan origin has broken his own Guinness world record for nonstop broadcast-television watching, when he watched 72 hours at a stretch in Stockholm.

He has broken his own previous record of 69 hours, 48 minutes, set in 2005.

Some of you may be wondering this is a simple thing and you may sit and watch for more hours, but Suresh is not as simple as you think.

Suresh Joachim has earlier broken 57 world records, in an attempt to benefit the underprivileged children of the world.

Indian government has sanctioned two premier referral institutes which will function like the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh as a part of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana .

The institutes, will be established at a cost of Rs 823 crore each, will be located at Raiganj in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district and in Uttar Pradesh.

Each institution will have a 960-bedded hospital, and offer courses for UG and PG and doctoral studies.

With the inclusion of the two new institutes, the total number of AIIMS like institutes will go up to eight.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, FROST/NIXON, MILK, THE READER, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE are the five movies which compete for the best film category.

Slumdog millionaire also has nominations in ten other categories which includes Outstanding British film, Director, Adapted screenplay, Leading actor, Music, Cinematography etc.

Sky gazers can witness a lunar eclipse February 9, 2009.

This will be the first of four penumbral lunar eclipses in 2009. The other lunar eclipses in 2009 will be from 7 Jul 2009, 6 Aug 2009 and 31 Dec 2009.

22 Jul 2009 will feature a solar eclipse also.

Best visibility will be over most of Asia, the Western US, Mexico and throughout the Pacific region.

President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate the Global Vipassana Pagoda at Gorai in Mumbai which is regarded as the Asia's tallest stone monument,today on February 8.

The Global Vipassana Pagoda took eleven years to complete and is built with sandstone and limewater.

The 325 feet tall pagoda structure has been established by the Global Pagoda Foundation to promote the practice of Vipassana.
