No Class 10 Exam: 10th Class Exam to be made Optional - Kapil Sibal

Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal has suggested that the 10th standard board examination will be made optional. The minister thinks of setting up an alternative evaluation system based on percentiles, not percentages. Those who need the school leaving certificates can opt for examinations and it will not be made compulsary.

The revolutionary decision comes after the study that Indian education system which is marks-centered and examination-based is a stressful excercise for both students and parents.

The HRD Ministry will consult state governments and state education boards to set up an alternative system of evaluation of students, soon.
