Tata Motors will launch the world's cheapest car Tata Nano today (March 23, 2009). The base model of Nano is expected to be available at Rs. 1,00,000, but the exact price is not disclosed yet.
The launch of Tata Nano is expected to dimnish the sales of the used cars under Rs. 1 Lakh - 2 Lakhs range and also the sales of the other entry level cars like Maruti 800, Alto, Chevrolet Spark etc. Some companies such as Bajaj is working on a much less priced car and companies such as Maruti will think of reducing the price of their small cars.

Eventhough the engine specifications of the Nano is limited, the car offers many other features which are not available on current entry-level small cars in the country.
Have a look at the Nano variants Tata Nano Standard (BSII* and BSIII*): The standard version, in three colour options, single-tone seats, and fold-down rear seat;
Tata Nano CX (BSII* and BSIII*): In five colour options, with heating and air-conditioning (HVAC), two-tone seats, parcel shelf, booster-assisted brakes, fold-down rear seat with nap rest;
Tata Nano LX: (BSIII*) With the features of CX plus complete fabric seats, central locking, front power windows, body coloured exteriors in three premium colours, fog lamps, electronic trip meter, cup holder in front console, mobile charger point, and rear spoiler.
